긴 겨울이 지났다.

올해처럼 봄을 기다렸던 해는 없었다.
그동안 개나리아트페어는 개나리가 활짝 핀 4월이면 봄소식을 들고 찾아왔다. 기다리고 기다리던 2025년의 봄바람은 산불이라는 아픈 소식으로 돌아왔다. 이러한 시기에 '전시를 하는 것이 과연 옳은가?' 의문이 들었다.

그러나, 우리는 AI와 유튜브, sns, 뉴스미디어가 세계를 제대로 반영한다고 믿지 않는다. 재난과 정치적 위기와 전쟁이 끝나지 않는 시대에 여전히 우리에게 필요한 것은 예술이다. 당연하다고 믿어온 것들이 얼마나 쉽게 무너질 수 있으며 재건될 수 있는가.

겨우내 작가들이 쌓아온 작업들을 바라본다.
이것은 아트페어기도 하나, 20명의 예술가의 존재이고 발언이다. 예술은 인간이 현실과 맞서는 가장 오래된 방식이다.
그래서 개나리아트페어2025의 주제는 다음과 같다.

“Art Never Dies!“ (예술은 죽지 않아!)

새삼 깨닫는다.
이토록 평범하고 평화로운 봄의 일상이 얼마나 소중한가.


The long winter has ended

This spring is the most awaited spring of those  I have ever experienced.
Gaenaree art fair had come with some spring news in every forsythia blooming April. The long-awaited spring wind of 2025 returned with painful news of forest fires. I doubted, 'Is it really right to have an exhibition in the period of pain and disaster?'

However, we do not believe that AI, YouTube, SNS, and news media can really reflect the world. In an era of endless disasters, political crises, and wars, It is art that is really needed. How easily things can be devastated and rebuilt that we have taken for granted.

Now, I look at the works of artists accumulated throughout the winter. This is an art fair, but it is also the existence and statement of 20 artists. Art is humanity's oldest way to confront the world out there. Thus, the theme of the Gaenaree Art Fair 2025 is as follows.

"Art Never Dies!"

I come to realise.
How precious is such a normal and peaceful spring.
